Latest on Pager Blast in Lebanon:

IP - Moscow warned that Israel perpetrated pager attacks in Lebanon could become a trigger for a wider regional conflict.

Iran Press/Europe: Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on Wednesday told reporters: "Whatever it was, certainly leads to an escalation of tension. The region itself is in an explosive state, and certainly, an incident like this, each one of them, has the potential to be a trigger for the situation to spiral out of control."

Peskov called for an investigation of the incident and said: It should be conducted, the causes and circumstances of what happened should be established, and of course, those behind these mass explosions of communications equipment should be identified".

Russia's Foreign Ministry also denounced the blasts in an earlier statement.

"We strongly condemn the unprecedented attack on friendly Lebanon and its citizens, which constitutes a flagrant violation of its sovereignty and a serious challenge to international law through the use of unconventional weapons," Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said.

"Amid growing tension along the Lebanese-Israeli border, such irresponsible actions are fraught with extremely dangerous consequences, as they provoke a new round of escalation," Zakharova added, calling for "all parties involved to exercise restraint."
