The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Saturday that Moscow was making every effort to ensure that no arms embargo or other sanctions were imposed on Iran.

Iran Press/Europe: He said there was no reason for the UN Security Council to extend Iran's arms embargo.

"The extension of this decision is in fact a continuation of the tough sanctions against Iran that existed before the adoption of Resolution 2231," Ulyanov said.

Mikhail Ulyanov, Russia's representative to international organizations in Vienna, recently said that White House officials were not well aware of the consequences of their policies on Iran.

He added: "If they (the American side) succeed in terminating the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, the first victim will be the Additional Protocol, which provides the conditions for intensive inspections in Iran at the highest level of transparency. Is this really what the United States wants?"

Iran and the Great Powers reached a historic agreement in July 2015 (July / August 2015) that in the face of the lifting of sanctions, Iran would limit its nuclear activities and suspend some, but in May 2018 (Ordibehesht 1397) Trump unilaterally withdrew from the agreement and re-imposed sanctions.
