Pakistan’s Minister of Energy, Ovais Ahmad Khan Laghari, announced that the first trial of cargo transfer from Russia to Pakistan via Iran and Azerbaijan will take place by March 2025.

Iran PressAsia:   Mohammad Khalid Jamali, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Moscow, recently mentioned at an international conference hosted by Russia that Pakistan is ready to join the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), a 7,200 km route connecting Russia and Central Asia to India through Iran.

Laghari described these collaborations as a significant step in strengthening bilateral relations and stated that this project will facilitate trade, enhance people-to-people interactions, and boost business activities between the two countries and the region.

Additionally, Laghari mentioned ongoing negotiations for direct air services between Russia and Pakistan, emphasizing both sides' interest in establishing this connection. The transportation and logistics projects between Russia and Pakistan were discussed during a visit by a Russian Federation Council delegation to Islamabad in October 2024, where both parties emphasized the need for further communication corridors in the region.

The North-South Corridor, passing through Iran, is part of the joint efforts between Russia and Pakistan to enhance their trade relations.
