Iran Press/Asia: On Friday, the leader of South Korea's ruling party called for the immediate suspension of President Yoon Suk Yeol's authority, revealing that Yoon had ordered the arrests of key politicians during his failed attempt to declare martial law.
"Based on the newly revealed facts, I firmly believe that President Yoon Suk Yeol must be swiftly suspended from his duties to safeguard the Republic of Korea and its citizens," Han noted.
He highlighted that it was verified on Thursday that President Yoon had instructed Counterintelligence Commander Yeo In-hyung to detain key political figures, branding them as "anti-state" elements, and had utilized intelligence resources to execute the arrests.
In addition, thousands of South Koreans held a protest near the parliament in Seoul on Thursday night, demanding President Yoon's resignation.
