Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking on Saturday afternoon in a meeting of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace President Hassan Rouhani said new communications technology can provide the general public with a cheaper and better service, providing more secure communications, and creating new opportunities for employment, helping the market to become more transparent and stimulate production and manufacturing.
Rouhani called for tackling of threats in cyberspace and the internet, reducing them to a minimum.
The President said failing to take advantage of the new technology and the new services which can be provided to the public with new communications technologies and failing to tackle threats in cyberspace, represents an opportunity lost and an ineffective approach.
Rouhani stressed that we mustn't ignore the opportunities afforded by new technologies simply because we are worried about the new threats these technologies pose.
In further comments, President Rouhani said technology is having an effect on our lifestyles and stressed the need to use scientific methods to tackle threats in cyberspace. Rouhani said threats in cyberspace should be reduced to a minimum using the 'National Information Network' of the Islamic Republic. He added: "There is no better way, or more effective way, of removing or reducing threats in cyberspace."
Participants in the meeting of the Supreme Council of Cyberspace also reviewed ways of ensuring a fail-safe mechanism for identification in cyberspace, which is needed for all sorts of financial, economic, cultural, political, and social interactions on cyberspace and the internet.
