Bogotá (IP) – Iranian Rio Olympics gold medalist Kianoush Rostami has bagged a silver medal in the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships underway in Bogotá, Colombia.

Iran PressAmerica: Lifting 174 kg, Kianoush Rostami finished runner-up in the snatch section of the 89kg weight class.

He lifted 206 kg in clean and jerk and ended up fourth in the 89kg weight class.

IWF's 2022 World Championships is underway in Bogotá from December 8th to 17th. A team of 11 weightlifters including four women represents Iran in the tournament.

The World Weightlifting Championships 2022 are the first in the series of qualifying events for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The weightlifters competing at the event will be able to accumulate crucial Olympic Qualification Ranking (OQR) points based on their performances.
