Iran's president emphasized the necessity of efforts by Iranian and Pakistani officials to speed up the removal of existing barriers in expansion of relations between the two countries by using innovative plans and methods.

Iran PressAmerica: Iran's President, Seyed Ebrahim Raisi made the remarks in a meeting with the Prime Minister of Pakistan Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting.

The Iranian president has described the level of relations between the two countries insufficient considering the existing capacities and emphasized the necessity of efforts by the Iranian and Pakistani officials to speed up the removal of existing barriers in the path of development of relations between the two countries by using innovative plans and methods.

Raisi also stated that international developments do not have any effect on the good relations between Iran and Pakistan, and mentioned the common border between the two countries as an opportunity.

He also said: "From Iran's point of view, the border with the neighboring country of Pakistan is an opportunity to develop trade exchanges."

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, for his part, expressed regret for the low volume of trade transactions between the two countries, despite the existence of huge potential in Iran and Pakistan, and expressed his country's determination to raise the level of cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran by developing trade exchanges and creating new means of transportation.

Referring to the special position of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Pakistan's foreign policy, the Prime Minister of Pakistan emphasized the need to maintain the security of the borders of the two countries, and said, "Iranian people should feel safe and comfortable in their neighborhood with Pakistan."

The two sides also discussed ways to increase cooperation on energy transmission in the region. 219
