IP- Restoration of JCPOA becoming more elusive if IAEA's board of governors makes a mistake, says the Permanent Representative of Russia to International Organizations in Vienna.

Iran PressEurope: Iran's international nuclear agreement or the so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was signed between the country and P5+1 countries (Russia, China, UK, Germany, France, and the US) in 2015, but the US scrapped it on May 18, 2018, re-imposing more sanctions on Iran.

The eighth round of talks on removing sanctions, which began on December 27, 2021, entered a breathtaking phase on March 11, 2022, at the suggestion of EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell, and the negotiators returned to their capitals for political consultations.

US President Joe Biden's administration claimed that it pursued a diplomatic approach to Iran and an attempt to return to the JCPOA, but so far, it took no steps to show its goodwill.

Commenting on High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Joseph Borrell's tweet,  Mikhail Ulyanov, wrote, "If next week the IAEA Board of Governor adopts the Western resolution on Iran, the prospects of successful completion of the Vienna Talks and restoration of JCPOA will become more elusive."

"If EU wants to reach an agreement, it should (instead of a res.) undertake extra diplomatic efforts," the Russian diplomat concluded.
