Yemen (IP) - Media sources reported three US sailors gone missing in Bab ul-Mandab as their vessel was targeted on Wednesday evening.

Iran Press/ West Asia: Reuters says the vessel was a Greek-owned cargo ship named True Confidence that was hit by a missile about 50 nautical miles southwest of the Yemeni port of Aden on Wednesday.

The bulk carrier was drifting with a fire continuing onboard, their statement said, adding that no information was available on the status of 20 crew members and three armed guards onboard.

Yet, Reuters quoted another source that three sailors were missing from the Barbados-flagged bulk carrier and four others were badly burned.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency said earlier that it had received a report of an incident 54 nautical miles southwest of Aden, which lies near the entrance to the Red Sea.

The shipping source, who declined to be identified, said the vessel appeared to have been abandoned.

No further information is available about who claimed responsibility for the incident.

The Spokesman of Yemen's Army Brigadier General Yaya al-Saree said in a statement on Tuesday that the Yemeni army targeted two American destroyers in the Red Sea in response to the Israeli crimes against the Palestinian nation and the US-British aggression on Yemen.

Since October 7, due to the all-out Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, the death toll in the strip has been increasing, exceeding 30,000 while the children are coping with the starvation caused due to the Israel war and blockade on Gaza.

Committing perpetual crimes against the people of Gaza, the Israeli regime's fighters bombed a truck carrying humanitarian aid to Deir al-Balah on Sunday in central Gaza.

Last week on Thursday, also, at least 81 Palestinians waiting for food aid were killed and 250 wounded after Israeli troops opened fire on a huge crowd of people waiting for food aid southwest of Gaza City, as the besieged enclave faces an unprecedented hunger crisis.
