Iran Press/ Africa: On Saturday afternoon local time, on the sidelines of the 7th GECF Summit in Algeria, Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi met with the President of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, and emphasized the interest of the Islamic Republic of Iran in developing relations with African countries, including Mozambique and said, "This meeting can be a turning point in the direction of developing and deepening the relations between the two countries".
The President stated, "Taking the next steps in relations requires the design of a new road map, therefore, to identify and exploit the high capacities of the two countries, a joint commission between Iran and Mozambique should be activated". In another part of his speech during the meeting with the President of Mozambique, Raisi explained the difference between the views of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the West towards the African continent, saying, "In its relations with African countries, the Islamic Republic of Iran is looking for securing the interests of the Iranian nation and African nations, but western countries, with a colonial view, are only looking for their interests and desires.
"While announcing the readiness of the Islamic Republic of Iran to export technical and engineering services to Mozambique, the President stated, "The Zionist regime and some Western countries, by supporting terrorists, seek to put pressure on African countries and plunder their resources and reserves, and African countries must protect their interests through fighting terrorism, and the Islamic Republic of Iran is also ready to cooperate in this regard."
In this meeting, Mozambican President Filipe Nyusi considered the development of his country's relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran to be the basis for the realization of important changes, and while welcoming Raisi's proposal to activate the joint commission of Iran and Mozambique, he called for the implementation of the agreements between the two countries, as well as the acceleration of an agreement on the extradition of convicts signed between Iran and Mozambique. 219
