IP - In a two-hour private meeting, the Turkish and Iranian presidents agreed to expand cooperation in economic, security, political, cultural, and sports fields, among others.

Iran PressAsia: Iran's President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, at the beginning of his trip to Turkey, was officially welcomed by the President of this country, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, at the Ak Saray Presidential Palace.

Iran’s President and his Turkish counterpart have held a two-hour private meeting at Ak Saray Palace in Turkiye’s capital Ankara.

Raisi, heading a political and economic delegation to participate in the eighth meeting of the Iran-Turkiye Supreme Council of Economic Cooperation, arrived in Ankara earlier on Wednesday and was welcomed by Erdogan.

The two presidents then held private talks, and later co-chaired the eighth meeting of their countries’ Supreme Council of Economic Cooperation.

The eighth meeting of the Iran-Turkey Supreme Council of Economic Cooperation was held in Ankara with the presence of Seyed Ebrahim Raisi and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the presidents of the two countries.

Iran, Turkiye sign 10 MoUs

Iran and Turkiye have signed ten cooperation documents to boost economic and trade relations.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in Ankara on Wednesday.

The cooperation agreements cover various areas such as railways, energy, joint commercial zones, and communications.

After their private meeting, the two presidents also attended the eighth session of the Iran-Turkiye Supreme Council of Economic Cooperation, where they agreed to expand cooperation in economic, security, political, and cultural fields, among others.

At a press conference afterward, President Raisi said Iran and Turkiye possess significant potential that can be harnessed into a substantial expansion of relations in all areas.

“In the economic and trade sectors, we have taken effective steps, and we are determined to elevate the level of relations," he said.

The president said both sides are determined to increase the level of economic ties, setting an initial target of $30 billion in annual trade between the two neighboring countries.

Iran's President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, before leaving for Turkey, in a speech at Tehran's Mehrabad Airport, said: "This trip takes place at the invitation of the President of Turkey to form a joint high delegation of the two countries, as well as to discuss the development of bilateral relations and economic issues."

Raisi stated: "Turkey is a neighboring Muslim country and an important commercial and economic partner of Iran, and we have set a target for our commercial and economic relations to reach 30 billion dollars. He added this goal can be achieved with the existing capacities."

Iran's Raisi, also, said that important documents will be signed during this trip, which shows the will of the two countries to develop relations.

The seventh meeting of the Supreme Council of Economic Cooperation between Iran and Turkey was held on Tuesday, July 28, 1401, during the official visit of the President of Turkey to Tehran, and the two sides agreed on the development of relations and promotion of relations in economic, infrastructure, security, political, cultural and sports fields.
