Algiers (IP) - The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran considered Algeria to be a leader in the fight against hegemony and colonialism and said that Algeria's regional policy is aimed at promoting peace and security in the region.

Iran PressAfrica: Ebrahim Raisi, to strengthen cooperation with regional and international organizations and unions and to participate in the 7th summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum, on Saturday morning at the head of an economic and political delegation and the official invitation of the President of the Republic of Algeria, left for the country.

According to Iran Press, Raisi congratulated the Algerian government on the successful holding of the 7th Summit of the Assembly of Gas Exporting Countries on Sunday.

At the meeting of the high-ranking delegations of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Algeria, he pointed to the good political relations and cultural and religious commonalities between Iran and Algeria and said that Tehran welcomes the promotion of economic and commercial relations with Algeria.

Referring to the remarkable economic progress of the Islamic Republic of Iran and moving from a single-product economy to having diverse and high-quality industrial, agricultural, and knowledge-based products, Raisi said that Iran's high capacities in the economic field are a suitable field for the development of cooperation in the fields of energy and technology, engineering, industrial, petrochemical and finance of Iran and Algeria.

The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran also recalled the common view of Tehran and Al Jazeera on various regional issues, especially the fight against terrorism, and considered the development of bilateral relations as a basis for strengthening regional and international relations between the two countries.

The President of the Republic of Algeria, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, also appreciated the presence of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the 7th Summit of the Assembly of Gas Exporting Countries and said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has made significant progress despite the sanctions, adding that  Algeria is interested in developing relations with Tehran in political, economic and technological fields.

Also, in the presence of the two countries' presidents, the Islamic Republic of Iran and Algeria authorities signed 6 joint cooperation documents in the fields of oil and gas, science, technology, knowledge-based economy, sports, tourism, and media cooperation.
