Why it matters:
Every year on the last Friday of holy month of Ramadan, millions of Muslims worldwide participate in International Quds Day, a day established in 1979 by the Late Founder of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini.
The big picture:
The purpose of Quds Day is to demonstrate unwavering support for the Palestinian people in their struggle against Israeli occupation.
What he’s saying:
Sheikh Kamaludeen says; This day is very important, very relevant and pronounced in our contemporary world because the initiative has been initiated at the time when the crime was not at the magnitudes but now we have seen the importance of this day and importance of celebrating this day (Al Quds day).
He added that the essence of celebrating this day is to create awareness and conscientize our Muslim community to know and appreciate the importance of this day. Sheikh Kamaludeen elaborated that it is important to realize that the cause of championing this cause is not only about Islam or Christianity but about mankind and the survival of mankind. It is about the fight between evil and good. So we thank the initiator for initiating this day.
Go deeper:
Quds Day fosters a global opportunity for the people of the world to be the voice of the voiceless either in Palestine or any part of the world, where the international bodies, including the UN, have turned into nothing more than accessories.
