Iran Press/ America: The protest erupted a day after a Lancaster police officer shot and killed a 27-year-old man while responding to a call.
Officers used chemical munitions to attempt to disperse the protesters.
They made a total of eight arrests in relation to the arson/riot outside of the Police station.
All suspects arrested were transported to the Lancaster Bureau of Police station for processing and to be held for arraignment.
The Lancaster County District Attorney's Office, which is investigating the police shooting, said that officers responded on Sunday to a 'reported domestic disturbance involving a person with a knife'.
The police officer fired several shots, ultimately killing the man with a knife.
The investigation by the district attorney's office is ongoing. The police department also said it was looking into whether officers followed all training guidelines and policies properly, according to their news release.
"This has been a heartbreaking day for our city," Lancaster Mayor Danene Sorace said in a statement on Sunday. "I grieve for the loss of life and know that there are more questions to be answered as the investigation continues."
Many American cities have been the scene of protests since May 25, following the racist assassination of a black man named George Floyd.
US President Donald Trump has repeatedly branded anti-racism protesters in the country as 'terrorists', and his promise to surge his paramilitary-style units from Portland to other Democrat-run cities in the coming weeks shows he is willing to employ the repressive tactics used by autocrats to vilify those who challenge them.
