President Massoud Pezeshkian emphasized that his trip to Iraq will focus on strengthening political, economic, and security ties between the two nations.

In a statement before departing for Iraq on Wednesday morning, Pezeshkian highlighted the priority of communication with neighboring countries, particularly Iraq.

"We can have a lot of cooperation with this country, and agreements have been prepared that we will sign," Pezeshkian stated.

He expressed optimism about the potential for increased collaboration, noting that he will visit Shia cities like Najaf and Basra, as well as Kurdish cities such as Erbil and Sulaymaniyah during his trip.

"This visit will be very good in establishing political, cultural, and economic connections," the President said. He expressed hope that the trip will mark the beginning of a "good, sincere, and fraternal relationship" with Iraq and other Islamic countries while expressing confidence that any existing problems can be resolved.

The visit comes at a crucial time as both countries navigate complex regional dynamics and seek to deepen their partnership.

By focusing on political dialogue, economic cooperation, and security coordination, the trip aims to chart a path forward for enhanced Iran-Iraq relations.

As the two neighbors work to forge a new era of cooperation, President Pezeshkian's visit underscores the strategic importance of the Iraq relationship for Iran's foreign policy objectives in the region.
