Tehran (IP) - The Iranian President finished his two-day visit to Syria on Thursday night and left Damascus for Tehran.

Iran PressIran News: At the formal invitation of the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Iran's President Ebrahim Raisi arrived in Damascus on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, heading top political, cultural, and economic delegations.

Ebrahim Raisi met his Syrian counterpart as well as other top brass figures including the Syrian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

The Comprehensive Program of Strategic and Long-Term Cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Syrian Arab Republic and 14 other cooperation documents were by the Presidents and high officials of the two countries, signed during the two-day visit.

Raisi also took part in a meeting with the Iranian and Syrian businessmen in Syria, where they addressed the ways to boost bilateral trade and remove the existing obstacles to facilitate it.

Economic agenda boosting after security re-settled in Syria

Iran's President says that after 12 years of the Syrian resistance against the insecurity created by the US-backed terrorist groups, now economic relations are getting priority in Syria's agenda.

Upon his return to Tehran from Damascus on Friday morning, Ebrahim Raisi said in his visits with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad mainly trade issues and economic capacities of the two countries. 

Raisi pointed to the 15 cooperation agreements signed between the two sides and said that some of the agreements began to be implemented from the very Syria, with the Iranian officials starting the implementation process from within Iran.

He referred also to his either scheduled or unscheduled meetings with the Syrian people and talked about their respect and enthusiasm for the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Leader of the Islamic Revolution. 

"Today, the people of Syria and the region have recognized the Islamic Republic of Iran as a strong pillar and a strong tree with deep roots in the ground and long branches in the sky, on which they can rely," the Iranian President noted.

Raisi made the remarks in the meeting with the Iranian and Syrian businessmen in Syria, on Thursday, where such issues were discussed as the removal of obstacles in the way of marine and aerial transits, the opening of a joint bank between the two countries, and preparing strong insurance for the businessmen.
