Tehran (IP) - Iran's President will leave Tehran for Algeria's capital Al-Jazeera to have bilateral consultations and take part in the 7the Gas Export Countries Forum (GECSF).

Iran PressIran news: Heading high-ranking political and economic delegations, Ebrahim Raisi will visit Algeria on Monday, at the formal invitation of his Algerian counterpart Abdul Majid Taboun. 

On Sunday upon his arrival in Algeria, President Raisi will be welcomed by Algerian counterpart Abdul Majid Taboun.

On the first day of the GECSF Summit, President Raisi will participate in the forum and will give a speech, while meeting with other participating leaders and high-ranking officials, on the sidelines of the event.

Meeting with the Algerian President and signing several cooperation documents are among the plans scheduled for Raisi's visit to Algeria.  

The Iranian President's visit to Algeria is the fourth trip done so far by the Islamic Republic's presidents, after 14 years, since 2010. 

The seventh summit of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) will be held in Algeria, from February 29 to March 2, 2024.

This summit represents a pivotal moment in shaping the global energy landscape.

The Summit will be attended by Heads of state, ministers, and senior officials from the 12 member countries including Bolivia, Algeria, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela. And seven GECF observer countries including Peru, Iraq, Angola, Azerbaijan, Malaysia, Mauritania, and Mozambique.

One of the highlights will be the inauguration of the GECF’s Gas Research Institute (GRI) headquarters in Algiers. This state-of-the-art facility will serve as a hub for research, innovation, and knowledge exchange, driving advancements in gas technology and best practices.
