Tashkent (IP): The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran in his meeting with his Uzbek counterpart said that setting goals is necessary to further improve the level of cooperation between Iran and Uzbekistan.

According to Iran press, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Ebrahim Raisi, who traveled to Tashkent in order to participate in the 16th ECO Summit, met with the President of Uzbekistan Shaukat Mirzayev on Thursday and expressed his satisfaction with the implementation of the agreements between the two countries, especially in the IT sector, trade, transportation and monetary and banking issues, and emphasized the necessity of setting goals and making efforts to further improve the level of cooperation in the aforementioned areas.

Continuing the development of political and economic interactions with Islamic, neighboring and aligned countries, Raisi called it one of the main priorities of the foreign policy of the Islamic Republic.

While referring to the importance of the position of regional organizations in creating the context to facilitate relations with neighboring countries, he considered it necessary to use the capacity of these organizations in order to strengthen relations and interactions between them.

In this meeting, the President of Uzbekistan Shaukat Mirziyoyev also stressed the need to strengthen relations and cooperation between Iran and Uzbekistan and thanked for the opening of the Iran Innovation House in Tashkent, and considered it as an opportunity for the economic activists of this country to become more familiar with the achievements, capacities and experiences of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
