Iran Press / Iran news: Iran's Foreign Ministry rejected the baseless allegation made in the 152nd meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Khatibzadeh commented on Thursday, a day after PGCC foreign ministers stated at the end of their meeting, accusing Iran of supporting terrorism and posing maritime threats.
The statement also accused Iran of meddling in other countries' affairs and called for an end to Tehran's missile program.
Reacting to the "cliché statements" of the PGCC statement, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said that such repetitive and destructive statements show some member states' misguided and strategic confusion towards the Islamic Republic of Iran.
"Such a statement is contrary to the principles of good neighborliness and has no special function other than creating a regional crisis," Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
Referring to the PGCC's statement about Iran's nuclear program, Khatibzadeh added: "Those behind such claims are well-aware of their baselessness, and this shows the depth of their ignorance toward realities on the ground and will only bring them to discredit."
Iranian diplomat, while criticizing the PGCC for turning into the world's biggest arsenal of the US and other Western countries' weapons, said that the council is in no position to express views about Iran's missile program and its military deterrence policies.
Abu Musa and Tunbs are an eternal part of Iran.
Reiterating the permanent positions of Iran, the spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the three Iranian islands of the Iranian islands of Abu Musa and the Greater and Lesser Tunbs as an integral and eternal part of the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran. He added: "The Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns any claim to these islands as interference in its internal affairs and territorial integrity.
Khatibzadeh added: "The repetition of these interventionist positions in any form is completely rejected and will not affect the existing legal and historical facts."
In the end, the IRIMFA spokesman emphasized: "The Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on its strategic vision and principled policies, has always considered the solution to the regional problems based on interaction and cooperation with neighbors and welcomes positive initiatives in the field of relations development, based on international principles and rules."
