Tehran (IP) - In a cabinet meeting held on Sunday, President Masoud Pezeshkian addressed Iran's stance on the recent aggression by Israel into Iranian soil, reaffirming the government’s commitment to safeguarding the nation's sovereignty.

Iran Press/Iran news: Reflecting on the event, President Pezeshkian said, "Our people and the Islamic Republic of Iran have demonstrated over the past 45 years that we will never yield to any aggressor." He emphasized that Israel's crimes have become evident to the entire world, pointing out the hypocrisy of Israel’s supporters, particularly the United States.

"These nations claim to uphold human rights and freedom, yet remain silent as tens of thousands of women and children fall victim to this bloodthirsty regime's crimes. Are these children terrorists? Is blocking access to food and medicine for the oppressed people of Gaza part of the principles of war or of a civilized world?"

President Pezeshkian continued by saying that "the awakened consciences around the world" increasingly reject Israel's genocide and crimes.

In response to Israel's aggression, the President reiterated Iran’s right to defend itself, stating, "We do not seek war, but we will defend the rights of our nation and country. We will respond appropriately to Zionist regime’s aggression." He warned that continued aggressions by Israel could heighten tensions, saying that the United States is provoking Israel's actions. "They promised that if we exercised restraint, the conflict would end, but they have not kept their word."

The President also offered his condolences to the families, the army, and all military forces for the loss of four members of Iran’s air defense, who were martyred in the recent aggression. Extending condolences as well to the families affected by the terrorist attack in Taftan, he called on officials to bring the perpetrators to justice.
