Iran Press/Asia: According to a report by Iran Press, the ceremony took place on Tuesday evening in the presence of Hossein Chaghami, head of the Cultural Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and Hossein Moazzami, Deputy Consul General of Iran in Peshawar.
This initiative featured the donation of cultural and historical items from Iran's Cultural Center to the museum, showcasing the rich artistic heritage of Iran and fostering greater cultural cooperation between the two nations.
The Peshawar Museum, established in 1907, is one of Pakistan's oldest and most significant cultural institutions. Known for preserving the region's ancient and diverse history, the museum reflects the cultural wealth of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the historical connections between Iran and South Asia. The Iranology Room stands out as the museum’s only section dedicated to a single country, displaying an exclusive collection of Iranian artifacts.
The items donated by Iran include traditional Iranian arts such as enamelwork (Mina-kari), turquoise inlay (Firoozeh-koobi), and metal engraving (Qalam-zani). Iconic replicas such as a miniature of the Bam Citadel, a replica of Cyrus the Great’s Charter, and an artistic representation of a Rhyton are also part of the exhibit. These artifacts highlight the grandeur and influence of Iranian culture in the region and are now on public display in the Iranology Room.
Speaking at the inauguration, Hossein Chaghami emphasized the importance of cultural diplomacy, stating, "The donation of these artifacts to the Peshawar Museum symbolizes the cultural solidarity between Iran and Pakistan, serving as a step toward reinforcing the historical and cultural bonds shared by our nations." He also praised the museum’s role in promoting the region's cultural heritage and acknowledged collaborative efforts to strengthen cultural ties.
The Peshawar Museum is already renowned for its diverse exhibits, including the Gandhara Section, featuring Buddhist relics of international acclaim, and the Islamic Art Section, showcasing rare Quranic manuscripts and Islamic tilework. The newly established Iranology Room further enriches the museum’s offerings, providing visitors with a deeper understanding of Iran's rich cultural legacy.
This initiative reflects the profound historical and cultural connections between Iran and Pakistan while promoting public awareness of Iran's heritage. It serves as a testament to the shared history of the two nations and strengthens regional cultural diplomacy. This achievement underscores the ongoing efforts to preserve and promote cultural collaboration, fostering deeper ties and mutual respect between the neighboring countries.
