Palestinian factions have condemned the Israeli regime’s renewed genocide in Gaza that ended the January ceasefire, saying that Washington has been enabling the regime’s genocidal war and vowing continued resistance.

Why it matters:

The renewed Israeli genocide threatens to escalate the already dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza, with over 400 killed and 1,000 wounded in the latest Israeli strikes. The breakdown of the ceasefire signals a prolonged conflict, with resistance groups in Palestine reaffirming their fight against occupation.

The big picture:

The Israeli regime resumed heavy bombing which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed was because of a lack of progress in the talks aimed at making Hamas release Israeli captives without a troop withdrawal from Gaza. Palestinian groups argue the move exposes captives to greater risk and further entrenches the regime’s failure to defeat the resistance.

What they’re saying:

Hamas states the Israeli regime's unilateral breach of the truce has endangered captives and demonstrates its unwillingness to commit to a negotiated resolution.

Islamic Jihad states the renewed aggression "will not grant Israel an advantage" and will instead deepen its strategic failures.

Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) states the strikes are "planned in advance" and executed with U.S. support, calling on international actors to intervene.

Palestinian Mujahideen Movement states the U.S. is directly responsible for enabling the Israeli regime’s actions, which have amounted to "15 months of genocide and ethnic cleansing."

Yemen's Ansarullah Movement states mediators have failed to "deter Zionist arrogance," blaming the U.S. for providing unconditional support to the Israeli regime.

Key points:

  • The Israeli military killed at least 412 Palestinians on Tuesday, during a violation of Tel Aviv’s ceasefire agreement with Hamas.
  • The Israeli regime initially agreed to a three-phase ceasefire deal but later refused to proceed to the second stage.
  • In violation of international law, the Israeli regime has restricted all humanitarian aid entering Gaza.
  • The death toll in Gaza has surpassed 48,000, with the majority being women and children.
