Rome (IP): Iranian Foreign Minister said a variety of topics were discussed in the meetings with Pope Francis the leader of world Catholic in the Vatican on Monday, including sanctions, international situation, ethic issues in the international community, and Palestinian.

Iran Press/Europe: Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met with Pope Francis on Monday evening.

After meeting with Pope Francis, as well as the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Vatican and Archbishop Paul Gallagher, Vatican Secretary for Relations with States, FM Zarif talked about his meetings in the Vatican, adding: "In these meetings, we discussed the international situation, sanctions, ethics in Islamic society, the importance of supporting family, and the situation in Palestine." 

He noted: "After meeting with the Pope, I met with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the Vatican Pietro Parolin, and these issues, as well as relations between the Vatican and Iran, were discussed.

Referring to the events in the occupied territories, the minister of foreign affairs of Iran considered his meetings important, saying: "In the current situation, the Palestinian people are in a bad situation. In addition, the sanctions have had a very bad effect on the Lebanese people, and the Catholic Church is sensitive to the situation in Lebanon." 

According to Zarif, there had been good talks and exchanges in all areas.
