Palestine has requested Russia's assistance in arranging a visit by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to Gaza, according to Abdel Hafiz Nofal, the Palestinian Ambassador to Russia.

Iran PressMiddle East:  Abbas announced his intention to visit Gaza during an address to the Turkish parliament on August 15.
“The President's decision to travel to the Gaza Strip is a serious effort to achieve a ceasefire in the region,” Nofal stated at a news conference. “We have sought support from all brotherly and friendly nations, including Russia.”

The ambassador noted that Palestine has also reached out to the UN Security Council and the UN General Assembly, establishing a special commission to facilitate the visit. Nofal emphasized that in a time when the global community is struggling to address the crisis in Gaza, “the President's visit could play a crucial role in halting the bloodshed.”

“Unfortunately, Israel intends to maintain its stance on international platforms. Therefore, we are confident that President Abbas's arrival in the Gaza Strip will help advance the situation,” he added.
