Islamabad (IP) - Pakistan's Foreign Office described the US allegations regarding its missile program as regrettable, baseless, and unfounded, emphasizing that the country's strategic capabilities are intended to protect its sovereignty.

Iran Press/Asia: Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson said that the purpose of strategic capabilities of our country is to maintain peace and stability in South Asia and Pakistan cannot give up its right to develop such capabilities.

Since 2012 Pakistan's leadership has tried to allay US concerns, The Foreign Office spokesperson said, adding that "Our eastern neighbor has much more powerful missile capabilities and the US ignoring them.

The spokesperson further said that strategic programs and capabilities are only to prevent and thwart the clear threat posed by its neighborhood. Pakistan's strategic capabilities should not be considered a threat to any other country.

The Pakistani spokesperson said that any attempt at interference, under any pretext, is neither conceivable nor possible, there is complete consensus and unwavering commitment in the country's political and social circles on this aspect.
