Peshawar (IP) - On Sunday a police vehicle in charge of security of a foreign diplomats convoy was targeted by a roadside bomb planted by terrorists in the Swat area in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. One police killed and 4 others were injured but no foreign diplomats injured in the attack.

Iran PressAsia: According to Swat district police officer Zahidullah Khan, the diplomats were visiting the Swat Valley area at the invitation of the local chamber of commerce to showcase it as a potential tourist destination.

While moving to the destination, a roadside bomb hit the squad vehicle, killing one policeman, while four others were injured.

According to Mohammad Ali Gandapur the Director General of Police in Sawat, “All the ambassadors remained safe in the attack and had been shifted to a safe place before their departure to Islamabad".

Ambassadors and diplomats from Indonesia, Portugal, Kazakhstan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Turkmenistan, Vietnam, Iran, Russia, and Tajikistan were in the convoy.

“On the way to the hotel from the town of Mingora (Sawat) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, an escort vehicle hit by mine.

Several policemen were injured, but diplomats were not harmed,” the Russian embassy posted on X.

Later, on Sunday night, the Pakistani Foreign Ministry announced that diplomats returned safely to Islamabad.

A dozen Ambassadors and diplomats were invited to visit the famous tourist spots in the Sawat area of the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, when one of the vehicles deputed on their security was hit by a roadside bomb, on Sunday.

No group claimed responsibility for this attack.
