Tehran (IP) - The Oil Minister announced that Phase 11 of South Pars, the world's largest gas field located in Iran, is set to commence operations in the coming days.

Iran PressIran news: Javad Owji further revealed that President Raisi will grace the opening ceremony of this significant project.

During a press briefing held on the sidelines of today's weekly government meeting, the minister emphasized that Phase 11 marks the final stage of South Pars at Sea, which was initiated three years ago.

This development is a testament to Iran's commitment to harnessing its vast natural resources and solidifying its position as a major player in the global energy market.

South Pars, shared between Iran and Qatar, is estimated to hold nearly 40% of Iran's total gas reserves.

The completion of Phase 11 will significantly boost Iran's gas production capacity and enhance its ability to meet domestic energy demands while also providing opportunities for increased exports.

The inauguration of Phase 11 underscores Iran's determination to overcome economic challenges and attract foreign investment despite ongoing international sanctions. The country remains steadfast in its pursuit of economic growth and development through strategic projects such as South Pars.

The petroleum minister stated that this is the last phase of the South Pars at Sea, which was put into operation 3 years earlier.

Regarding the Arash gas field shared between Iran and Kuwait, he said, “We have told Kuwait that we are ready to jointly exploit the field like other shared fields and the Islamic Republic has an inalienable right to it.”

Owji underlined if Kuwait shuns cooperation, Iran knows what to do and will not back down “an iota” on its right.
