Tehran (IP) - Iranian Oil Minister says Iran and Belarus reached an agreement to establish a joint special commission in oil, gas, and petrochemical products areas.

Iran PressIran news: Javad Owji told reporters on the sidelines of the cabinet session on Wednesday that the agreement was reached as he took a trip to Minsk on Tuesday to have a consultation about energy cooperation.

Iranian Oil Minister Javad Owji and Belarus’s Belneftekhim Chairman Andrei Rybakov signed a document on cooperation in the oil sector in the Belarusian capital Minsk on Tuesday.

The memorandum of understanding was inked on the sidelines of a meeting between Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber and Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko.

According to the MoU, Iran will export technical and engineering services, oil equipment, and petrochemical products to Belarus, and the two countries will cooperate in the technology-related fields and use a barter system to trade.

Owji then presented some reports to the press: "Fortunately, in the first half of the current [Persian year], more than 36 million cubic meters of gas have been supplied to power plants on a daily basis."

"At the same rate, 20 million liters of liquid fuel, including gasoil and mazut, have been burned in power plants, less than what was consumed last year," he added.
