Iran Press/Commentary: Iran's Acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani left Tehran for Jeda on Wednesday morning to take part in the meeting that was held at the foreign ministerial level for the OIC member states.
At the request of Iran, the urgent meeting put on top of its agenda the ongoing genocide of the Israeli regime in Gaza, the regime's assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniya in Tehran, and the violation of the Iranian territorial integrity and security.
The meeting was held as since October 7, 2023, the Israeli regime launched an all-out war on the Gaza Strip, having killed more than 39,000 people, wounded over 90,000 others, and displaced about 2 million people and now it seeks more aggression thanks to the UN Security Councils' inability to show a due reaction.
Furthermore, as the regional countries, particularly Iran and Saudi Arabia, pursue their development plans as their top priority, restore their relations, and seek their interest in the security and stability of the region, the Israeli regime seeks its survival in the intensification of insecurity and instability.
So, it seems that the OIC emergency meeting and its resolutions could provide the Islamic Republic and the Resistance Axis with strong support to enjoy a defense power against the Israeli regime's aggression.
Some talk about the possibility that a response to the US-backed Israeli regime's recent assassinations will lead to a regional war and make Netanyahu hopeful of his cabinet's survival. Yet, the evidence from the Israeli regime's record shows that in case the regime does not receive a due response, it will commit more assassinations and trespasses.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has a clear responsibility for the Palestinian issue, and basically the philosophy behind the organization is the defense of Palestine and the Al-Aqsa Mosque, and the existential threat against Palestine has never been as serious and widespread as it is now.
It was expected that before the Israeli genocidal war, the Palestinian people could have limited sovereignty and reach relative stability, but now after 10 months of the regime's war on Gaza to relocate the Gazans to other countries like Egypt, the fact has become clear that the Israeli regime seeks the same scenario for the West Bank to force the inhabitants to Jordan and then seize the whole Palestine.
Still, evidence shows that the regime has cooked up a plan for the Arabs living in the 1948 lands, the so-called Israel, and as soon as it formed a pure Jewish rule, it will oust the very Arabs from the occupied territories.
Cutting off political and economic ties with the Israeli regime, supporting the ICJ warrant to arrest Netanyahu as a war criminal and his international trial, and calling for the expulsion of the Zionist regime from the United Nations and the relevant institutions along with defending the Resistance Axis' right to respond to the regime's recent assassinations are among the steps the OIC can take to fulfill part of its responsibility to the issue of Palestine and the Israeli terror state.
