(IP) - The Iranian president, Ebrahim Raisi, expressed doubt about the effectiveness of the UN Security Council in maintaining world peace.

Iran Press/ West Asia: He questioned the council's role, citing the United States' support for the Zionist regime and its involvement in war crimes against defenseless Gazans. Raisi stated that when the Security Council fails to condemn Israeli crimes and prevent their resolution, hope for establishing global peace diminishes.

During a meeting with South Africa's Minister of Foreign Relations and International Cooperation, Naledi Pandor, President Raisi commended South Africa's efforts in Iran's membership to the BRICS group.

He also praised South Africa's support for the Palestinian people and condemned the crimes committed by the Zionist regime.

Raisi acknowledged South Africa's responsible stance in preventing observer membership of the Zionist regime in the African Union due to their crimes against Palestinians.

Raisi criticized the United Nations Security Council for its failure to address these issues and reiterated that without condemnation of these crimes and prevention of their recurrence, world peace cannot be maintained.

Minister Naledi Pandor emphasized Iran's potential to contribute effectively to BRICS and collaborate with other countries for fair progress.

She expressed South Africa's keen interest in strengthening cooperation with Iran, particularly in economic matters.
