Iran Press/ Africa: 45 years ago, on the 12th of Bahman 1357 AH (February 1, 1979), Imam Khomeini (RA), the great founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, after fifteen years of exile and being away from his homeland, stepped into the soil of Islamic Iran amid the enthusiastic welcome of the people.
Ten days after he arrived in Iran, on the 22nd of Bahman 1357 (February 11, 1979), the glorious Islamic Revolution of Iran achieved victory.
In Kano State, the ancient city and commercial center of Nigeria, Muslims men and women gathered to rejoice with Iranians and other supporters of resistance in the world on the forty-fifth anniversary of the Islamic Revolution that changed the equation of the world.
Sheikh Sunusi Abdulkadir Koki, the senior member of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria in his speech narrated the plights and difficulties that Imam Khomeini and Iranians faced in their struggle to free Iran from Western hegemony and imperialism, which included assassinating scholars loyal to Imam Khomeini by the then Shah government, arresting Imam Khomeini and forcing him to exile in Turkey and France.
The scholar also advised Nigerian activists to watch the famous Arabic series documentary on the history of Imam Khomeini released by Almanar tv, known as "Siratu Ruhullah" which has been translated to Hausa language, so that they can obtain knowledge on struggle to establish justice.
"The role of women in the successful Islamic Revolution of Iran" is the topic given to Mrs. Zahra Muhammad who spoke during the event. She said Iranian women played a very important role that can never be forgotten in the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Mrs. Zahra added that apart from participating in the protests, women also supported men and encouraged them stayed firmly towards confronting Iraqi soldiers under former dictator, Saddam Hussein during the eight years of imposed war after the Islamic Revolution.
Dr. Dauda Nalado, a senior lecturer at Bayero University Kano was the last speaker at the event. He said the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran was not only for Iranian people, but for the whole world.
"The purpose of our gathering here is to rejoice not only with the people of Iran, but to rejoice globally for the successful accomplishment of the establishment of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. This was done exactly forty-five years ago on the 11th of February 1979. The Islamic Revolution, is not a revolution in Iran only but a global revolution. That is why right now, throughout major cities in the world similar gathering is taking place," said Dr. Dauda Nalado.
In an exclusive interview with Iran Press, the representative of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky in Kano State, Sheikh Sunusi Abdulkadir Koki said the Iran's Islamic Revolution has woken the world, citing South Africa and Niger Republic as examples.
Sheikh Sunusi Abdulkadir further said: "A very big lesson to be seen clearly is, Iran's Islamic Revolution became a key that opened doors of freedom to all freedom seekers around the world. It was after the Islamic Revolution of Iran that South Africa gained freedom from the Western backed apartheid regime. And we all know that Nelson Mandela himself was influenced by Imam Khomeini's struggle, that was why he called Imam Khomeini My master."
We all witnessed how people of the Republic of Niger freed their country from France's colonialism. And all these in one way or another, have a connection to the struggle of late Imam Khomeini. This shows that whenever people make decision to stand against tyranny, definitely they will regain freedom. Therefore, I repeat, the Islamic Revolution of Iran was not for Iranians only, it's for all oppressed people of the world."
And also, we all witnessed how people of the Republic of Niger freed their country from France's colonialism.
