The new Iranian Foreign Minister said that the Foreign Ministry is fully coordinated with the country's armed forces to respond to the recent Israeli Aggression on Iranian soil.

Iran Press/Iran news: Ismail Haniyeh, the head of the political office of the Islamic Resistance of Hamas, was hit in the Iranian capital city of Tehran early on Wednesday, July 31, 2024; following the incident, Haniya and one of his bodyguards were martyred.

Paying tribute to the late Iranian FM Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on the first day of his career, Abbas Aragchi told reporters on Saturday that the punitive True Promise Operation was a definitive response to the Israeli regime's aggression on Iran and prevented war in the region as it would be so in the case of the regime's recent aggression.

In retaliation for the Israeli regime's April 1 strike on the consular section of Iran's embassy in the Syrian capital Damascus, Iran's Islamic Republic Revolution Guards Corp (IRGC) targeted the occupied territories on April 13 with a barrage of drones and missiles. The retaliatory strike was dubbed Operation True Promise.

Aragchi emphasized Iran's support for Palestine and the Axis of Resistance in the region as one of the pivots of the Islamic Republic's foreign policy and would continue the way with the utmost capacity.

Elsewhere, referring to the JCPOA and the removal of West-imposed sanctions on Iran, he said that there would be neither arbitrary hurry nor delay in JCPOA talks so that the national interest of the Iranian nation is ensured.

Iran's international nuclear agreement or the so-called Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was signed between the country and P5+1 countries (Russia, China, UK, Germany, France, and the US) in 2015, to lift the West's sanctions on Iran, but the US scrapped it on May 18, 2018, re-imposing more sanctions on Iran.

The new FM stressed also the neutralization and removal of the sanctions as two approaches in the talks, noting that the former approach was of a higher priority.

According to the agreement Iran was supposed to curb some of its legal nuclear activities and the other side was supposed to lift sanctions on the Iranian nation. The Western parties did not fulfill their commitments to the deal contrary to Iran which began to carry out the obligations and fulfilled them.
