Guinea (IP)- Ashura mourning rituals were held at Shia's biggest mosque in the Guinean capital city.

Iran PressAfrica: Imams and clerics who took the floor highlighted the significance of the day for humanity, the Muslims and Shiites in particular.

 The event was graced by the Iranian ambassador in Guinea. Former Guinean students in Iran also attended the gathering. 

The ceremony which was held at the Shia mosque cited the recitation of elegies and delivering lectures about the Ashura uprise etc. 

The Iranian ambassador in Guinea said on the sidelines of the event: ‘We cannot choose 5 minutes in the night and 5 minutes in the day. If we choose the day we are opting for brightness and if it’s the contrary is darkness.

 Imam Hussein stood by Muslims. We don’t have anything more precious than our life, our family but Iman Hussein donated all these things to God. He gave himself to save Islam. His idea was to save his great idea which is the latest message of God to us through our Holy prophet’.

A Guinean lady is also paying homage to the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PUBSH) : ‘For the religion, for humanity Imam Hussein defended everyone regardless of his or her faith. He taught us not to be weak in front of our opponents whatever threat one may face."


Muslims are the majority in Guinea. Like their counterparts around the world Muslims in Guinea commemorate every year the Ashura mourning.
