Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, mourning ceremonies for the months of Muharram and Safar will be held outdoors in shrines, streets, parks, schools, and stadiums, in accordance with health protocols and social distancing.
5,431 religious mourning groups have been registered in Khorasan Razavi province. These days, in addition to Iranian pilgrims, Mashad hosts a limited number of pilgrims from other Islamic countries, including Afghanistan.
