Supporters of Palestine continue their marches in various cities of Morocco to express solidarity with Gaza and Palestine.

Why it matters:

Morocco is among the few Arab states that have normalized its ties with the Israeli regime. The anti-Israeli demonstrations in the country indicate a gap between the Moroccan citizens and the government.

The big picture:

Similar marches expressing solidarity with Palestinians have emerged in cities worldwide, spanning Africa, Asia, Europe, and the U.S., coinciding with Israel's new wave of attacks on the Gaza Strip. Earlier, after Friday prayers, supporters of Palestine held solidarity marches in over 60 cities across Morocco.

Key points:

  • The demonstration was staged on Saturday evening.
  • Rabat and al-Sualem cities were the centers of the demonstration.
  • People called for an end to the war on the strip and the blockade of Gaza.
  • They commemorated martyred leaders of the Palestinian resistance.
