Iran Press/ Iran news: The open session of the parliament, chaired by Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, began today, Wednesday, at the parliament with the presence of the MPs.
According to the parliamentary correspondent of Iran Press, the MPs in an open session today, Wednesday agreed with the principle of Article 19 of the plan to develop and eliminate the obstacles in the country's electricity industry.
According to this article, the Ministry of Energy is obliged to issue a license to export electricity generated to the private sector, especially electricity generated from renewable sources, after ensuring the supply of domestic electricity according to the annual announcement plan, provided that it does not contradict government export policies.
Also, according to the note of this article, the fuel required for the production of electricity for thermal power plants subject to this article is calculated at the export rate and its transfer cost for export (excluding electricity generated from renewable sources) is determined according to the tariff announced by specialized holding companies.
MPs also agreed to refer Article 20 of the plan to develop and remove obstacles in the country's electricity industry to the Energy Commission for further consideration.

According to Article 20 of this plan, the Ministry of Energy, through Specialized Holding Companies and related companies, is obliged to install an in-house smart meter for electricity subscribers with priority given to high-consumption subscribers and receive the relevant fee from them in installments. The Ministry of Energy is obliged to submit a plan for the replacement and installation of smart electricity meters to the Energy Commission of the Parliament within two months after the effective date of this law, and to submit a report on its performance to this commission every three months.
Regarding the referral of this article to the Energy Commission, the Speaker of the Parliament, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, said: "There is a discussion about making electricity meters smart. The administration wants to get the cost from the owner of the meter, the farmer Why should the farmer pay the cost?"
He added: "This is something that the administration needs, so due to the ambiguities in this article, it is necessary to refer it to the relevant commission for further investigation."
The MPs also agreed with Article 21 of the bill in reviewing it.
According to Article 21, the bill on exempting the price of electricity for low-consumption household subscribers, approved on February 27, 1979, and its subsequent amendments, and the bill on allowing electricity tariffs for domestic, industrial, agricultural, and other uses, approved on August 11, 1981, will be repealed from the effective date of this law.
