The World Food Programme (WFP) has raised the alarm over the dire humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, where millions of families face the heartbreaking decision of choosing between feeding their children or keeping them warm during the harsh winter. The organization has urgently called for global aid to address the escalating crisis.

Iran Press/Asia:  The World Food Programme (WFP) has expressed grave concerns over the economic and humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. In a statement shared on social media platform X on Tuesday, the organization highlighted the severe struggles of Afghan families, noting that the majority are forced to choose between food and heating to survive.

The WFP emphasized that $718 million is required to provide essential aid to those in need over the next six months. According to their assessment, five million Afghans are experiencing extreme food insecurity and are uncertain about where their next meal will come from.

Alarmingly, one million of these individuals live in remote and hard-to-reach regions, including Badakhshan, Ghor, Bamyan, and Daikundi, where harsh weather conditions further exacerbate the challenges of delivering aid.

The WFP has reiterated its plea for immediate international assistance, warning that the harsh winter and ongoing economic collapse have placed millions of lives at risk.

As Afghanistan grapples with an unprecedented crisis, humanitarian organizations urge the global community to step up and ensure that no family is left to make such devastating choices.
