Iran Press/Africa: On May 30 of this year, the DR Congo army reported a thwarted coup, stating in a statement that the coup attempt to seize power had failed and that all conspirators had been arrested.
A spokesperson for the DR Congo army indicated during a televised speech that the armed forces had successfully neutralized a coup attempt involving foreign forces and individuals from the Congo.
Additionally, local sources in Congo reported that three people were killed in clashes between uniformed personnel and the guards of a politician in Kinshasa.
According to Reuters, the two Americans were accused of participating in the failed coup led by Christian Malanga, a Congo-based politician residing in the U.S. Security forces later killed Malanga. His son, one of the condemned Americans, previously testified in military court that his father had threatened to kill him if he did not participate in the coup.
