The Iraqi source said in a statement that at 6:45 pm on Sunday, July 26, 2020, two consecutive explosions took place in the al-Saidiya area near the Hillah-Baghdad highway, in the al-Saqr base.

The Iraqi Media Security Cell attributed the incident to the explosion of the ammunition depot due to the extreme heat and improper storage of ammunition.

Sources in Iraqi Popular Mobilization forces (Hshd al-Sha'abi) also questioned the cause announced by the Iraq War Information Center and the Joint Operations Command, linking tonight's blasts to the previous ones.
