Zarif meets Iraqi President Barham Salih

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran in two separate meetings had talks with the President of Iraq, Barham Salih, and Hadi (Abu Hassan) Hadi al-Amiri, the head of the Iraqi Fatah Alliance as one of Iraqi political Shiite leader on Sunday.

Iran PressMiddle East: In the meeting with Iraqi President, Zarif, and Salih while emphasizing the long-standing and historical relations between the two countries, called its development and deepening in favor of the two nations as well as countries of the region.

The meeting also discussed the latest developments in bilateral relations and some important issues for the expansion of economic and trade relations between the two countries.

In the meeting, important issues like following up the assassination of resistance commanders by the US, as well as the most important regional and international issues and other issues of interest were discussed.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran also meet Hadi (Abu Hassan) al-Amiri, the head of the Iraqi Fatah Alliance, and discussed various issues of bilateral relations and the martyrdom of resistance commanders.

They discussed counter-terrorism and other topics of interest.

Earlier in the day, Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is in Baghdad, met the Prime Minister of Iraq to exchange thoughts on developing bilateral ties.

Zarif also discussed the latest regional and global developments as well as the situation in Iraq with Mustafa al-Kazemi.

Prior to the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister also met the Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in Baghdad on Sunday heading a high-level delegation to meet with Iraqi officials.

Upon arrival in Iraq, Zarif visited the site of the martyrdom of General Qassem Soleimani, Abu Mahdi al-Mohandes, and their companions near Baghdad airport.
