Two major Palestinian groups, the West Bank-based Fatah party and the Gaza-based Hamas resistance movement will work together to fight Israel's plans to annex territory in the occupied West Bank.

Iran Press/Middle East: Senior Fatah official Jebril Rajoub, who was speaking during a joint teleconference press interview with senior Hamas official Saleh Arouri, said: "We will put in place all necessary measures to ensure national unity"

"We will lead our battle together under the flag of Palestine to achieve an independent and sovereign Palestinian state on the 1967 borders and solving the issue of the refugees on the basis of international resolutions," he added.

The joint press conference was spurred by their common opposition to US President Donald Trump's Middle East plan.

The so-called “deal of the century” plan paves the way for Israel to annex roughly 30 percent of the occupied West Bank, including Jewish settlements in the territory considered illegal under international law.
