New US air raid on Hashd Al-Shaabi in northern Baghdad

The US airstrikes targeted a convoy of vehicles belonging to Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF), also known as Hashd Al-Shaabi, in northern Baghdad, the Iraqi capital.

Iran PressMiddle East: According to a report by Iraqi state television, the attack took place in a road in the al-Taji district, in northern Baghdad in the early hours of Saturday morning, in which two vehicles were targeted.

The Hashd Al-Shaabi group rejected rumors that senior commanders were killed in the airstrike, saying the convoy was carrying aid workers and a medical team.

The airstrikes have killed six people and critically wounded three others.

The new US attack was carried out just hours after the terrorist strike and assassination of Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani, the head of the elite IRGC Quds Force, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, a senior commander in the Popular Mobilisation Forces (PMF) on Friday morning.

Lieutenant General Soleimani was awarded by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei as the first Iranian military official to hold Iran’s highest military order, the Order of Zulfaqar after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Lieutenant General Soleimani has been named in the list of top Global Thinkers in the defense and security in Foreign Policy (FP)’s 2019. 101/211/207
