Syrian President, Senior Assistant to Iran’s Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs, discussed stages achieved in combating terrorism in Syria and efforts to achieve progress on political track.

Iran PressMiddle East:  Bashar al-Assad   received on Monday Senior Assistant to Iran’s Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs, Hossein Jaberi Ansari, and the accompanying delegation.

According to SANA News Agency, discussions during the meeting dealt with the latest developments in Syria and the region, stressing the importance of the Syrian-Iranian relations as a factor of stability in the region in the face of US policies and tools, which are based on spreading chaos and weakening countries that refuse to submit to its policies.

The discussion also touched upon the stages achieved in the fight against terrorism and efforts made to achieve progress on the political track, especially with regard to the formation of a committee for discussing the current constitution where there was consensus that the US administration and the states supporting terrorism are working to put obstacles in the way of the two tracks in an attempt to achieve in politics what it has failed to achieve throughout the years of war.

The two sides affirmed Syria’s and Iran’s determination to continue combating terrorism on the one hand and to continue efforts aimed at moving ahead with the political path in spite of the American obstacles to ending the war against Syria and restoring security and stability to the Syrian territories, which will enhance stability in the region as a whole.

They also discussed  bilateral relations and steps taken by the two sides to further develop relations to serve the interests of the Syrian and Iranian’s peoples.
