Tehran (IP) - At the end of a breath-taking election campaign for the 14th Iranian presidential election, Masoud Pezeshkian was elected the next president of the Islamic Republic.

Iran PressIran news: As a result of a 49.8% voter turnout in the 14th presidential election of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian managed to win 16,384,403 votes out of 30,115,157 and became the 9th president of the country. 

His rival, Saeed Jalili, gained 13,538,179 votes.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has held 5 nationwide elections just in 2024 within short periods; two rounds of parliamentary elections, an election of the Assembly of Experts, and the 14th presidential elections the run-off of which is underway on Friday, July 5, 2024.  

The election was held simultaneously abroad in different countries so that the Iranians living abroad could cast their votes on the ballot boxes to choose a president.

Canada was the only country that banned the election for Iranians.
