Tehran (IP) – Iran's first vice-president said that all government-based sections are on the scene to manage electricity consumption in a way that does not harm people's livelihood.

Iran PressIran News: After a meeting to review the recent blackouts and decide on electricity consumption management on Tuesday evening, Es'haq Jahangiri expressed hope that with the decisions adopted in the home sector, there would be the least blackouts or no power outages for home subscribers.

He stated that a large amount of investment had been made in the electricity industry in recent years to the extent that the electricity generation capacity of thermal and hydro powerplants in Iran reached 85,000 MW.

Noting that Iran is ranked 14th in the world in terms of power plant capacity, he said: "This shows the good position of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the electricity industry."

He assured the people that the Ministry of Energy would not cut off electricity to important and necessary sections, including hospitals, saying that all government and non-government hospitals would have emergency electricity.

He also spoke about dealing with cryptocurrency miners, saying: "According to a previous government decree, the activities of the limited sectors that had permission to mine cryptocurrency should be stopped, or their permission will be revoked."

He also asked the Ministry of Energy officials to interact with the people and explain the reasons for the recent blackouts so that people know what issues and problems exist in the distribution and consumption of electricity in Iran.
