Iran Press/Iran news: Speaking on Wednesday evening in the holy city of Qom, Major General Ghasem Soleimani said: "In the Islamic Revolution, God granted the Iranian nation victory over all major powers and the late Imam Khomeini (may his soul rest in peace) managed to revive genuine Islam of the Holy Prophet."
In further comments, the senior IRGC General said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran is the only country which defends genuine Islam and supports Islamic movements. The ideas and theories of the founder of the Islamic revolution, Imam Khomeini (may his soul rest in peace), shook the world."
Elsewhere in his remarks, Major General Soleimani referred to the longevity, power, and authority of the Islamic Republic, said: "The late Imam chose Islam as an asset and resource for Iran."
He added: "There is no contradiction between Islam and Iran's interests, and indeed Islam provides Iran's interests."
Late Imam and Leader follow the same line
Commenting further the senior IRGC General said: "I tend not to enter politics but I follow the Leader of the Islamic Revolution. Those who say we follow the line of the late Imam and the Leader should know that these two are never separate from each other."
Turning to US defeat in Iraq, Major General Soleimani pointed to the seven-trillion-dollar cost of US military involvement in the Middle East including the unsuccessful invasion and occupation of Iraq, adding: "Despite this huge spending US president [Donald Trump] has to stealthily sneak into Iraq in the middle of the night unannounced. In the end, 150000 US soldiers had to leave Iraq because of the Islamic government and Islamic movement which has been established in that country."
Promotion of Wahabbism at the Behest of the West
Turning to Saudi Arabia Major General Soleimani said: "Saudi rulers have admitted that they promoted Wahabbism and Wahabbi ideology at the behest and insistence of Western powers. Saudi Arabia's crown prince, Mohammad Bin Salman, wants to normalize Saudi Arabia's relations with the Zionist regime."
He added: "Islamic Iran has power and authority. Saudi Arabia has a thousand billion dollars in currency reserves, but it does not have power and authority. Economic clout does not mean authority. Iran's authority stems from its determination and the selfless sacrifices Iranians have made."
In a wide-ranging speech, Major General Soleimani said: "We have to make sure that the Iranian people know about the many victories and successes of the Islamic revolution. For example, the recent trip by Bashar al-Assad to Tehran, and his meeting with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution was really a celebration of victory in Syria."
