Iran Press/ Africa: In a statement, Libya's UN-recognized GNA military spokesman Mohammed Qanunu said the forces have taken back 1,860 square miles of land following intense fighting with Haftar’s forces.
Qanunu said an armory, large amount of ammunition and military equipment belonging to Egypt and the United Arab Emirates were also seized, according to Anadolu News Agency.
The GNA has been under attack by Haftar’s forces since last April, with more than 1,000 killed in the violence.
Haftar launched a military campaign to occupy Tripoli and oust the Libyan government. Haftar’s attack coincided with UN plans to hold a national dialogue conference in Libya, which was undermined by Haftar’s campaign.
Libya has been engaged in civil war since 2011, when former dictator, Muammar Gaddafi was overthrown.
