On the occasion of the auspicious birth anniversaries in the month of Sha'ban , and on the eve of the auspicious 15th of Sha'ban, the birth anniversary of the 12th Shiite Imam , Aba Saleh al-Mahdi, Hojjat Ebne Hassan (may God hasten his reappearance), the Leader of the Islamic Revolution agreed to a request by the head of Iran's Judiciary , Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani, to grant an amnesty and/or commutation of sentences of 715 selected convicts.
Earlier, the Parole Board of Iran's judiciary, selected and approved 715 individuals who had been convicted in a court of law , but had been deemed eligible to receive the pardon or commutation of sentence.
