Iran Press/ Iran news: The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, spoke about prominent figures such as Ahmad ibn Musa and other revered martyrs and saints from the region, recognizing them as enduring symbols of spiritual devotion. He referenced the iconic Persian poet Hafez, who memorized the Quran in fourteen variations and incorporated Quranic mysticism into his poetry, symbolizing the intertwining of religion and art.
The Leader also highlighted Fars Province’s history of resistance, mentioning figures like Imam-Qoli Khan, who led the fight against Portuguese colonialists in Hormuz, establishing himself as a pioneering figure against European colonialism. He noted that the celebrated Mirza Shirazi, who issued the famous Tobacco Protest fatwa, spearheaded one of Iran’s first successful campaigns against foreign economic domination, predating similar acts of resistance such as Gandhi’s efforts in India by 30 years.
Other influential figures, such as Mirza Mohammad Taqi Shirazi and Sayyed Abdol-Hossein Lari, were also praised for their leadership in mobilizing the people against foreign powers. Additionally, Ayatollah Khamenei honored Ayatollah Dastgheib, a respected scholar and revolutionary leader from Shiraz, whose activism against the Pahlavi regime turned Shiraz into a hub of resistance, with his messages resonating across the country.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution underscored that the Martyrs' Congress should be an opportunity to communicate the province's rich heritage to the entire Iranian nation, particularly to the youth. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that the legacy of these martyrs and leaders continues to inspire dedication to faith and service to the country. To achieve this, he advised the Congress organizers to evaluate their impact and make necessary improvements to draw more youth towards understanding and emulating this heritage.
The Supreme Leader also touched on regional issues, particularly the resistance movements in Lebanon and Palestine. He praised the sacrifices made by martyrs and leaders of the Islamic resistance, asserting that their efforts have led to the weakening of Zionism and the exposure of Western hypocrisy regarding human rights. He condemned the West’s silence over the killing of thousands of Palestinian children and criticized Western leaders for their ongoing support of the Israeli regime.
Moreover, Ayatollah Khamenei described the West’s stance as contradictory and reaffirmed his support for the regional resistance movement, which he described as a powerful counterforce against oppression in the region. He expressed hope that the movement will soon achieve ultimate victory for the people of the region.
