Tehran (IP) - The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei said: "We must revive the Iranian and Islamic identity and the national character in the children of the country."

Iran PressIran news: Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Tuesday morning on the occasion of the anniversary of the martyrdom of Morteza Motahari and Teacher's Day, in a meeting with teachers and cultural experts from all over the country, said: "The issue of language, nationality and flag is one of the basic and important issues. All students should be proud of being Iranian, which they are proud of."

The Leader noted: "We must revive the Iranian and Islamic identity and national character in the country's children."

He added: "The works of Martyr Motahari penetrated the hearts of the society as a result of his martyrdom." Ayatollah Khamenei also recommended every one, especially teachers, to read the manuscripts and speeches of Martyr Motahari.

Criticizing the instability in management in the Ministry of Education, the Leader said: "In the last ten years, five ministers and four caretakers took the office; This is a strange thing."

"I pay tribute to our beloved martyr, the late Ayatollah Motahari, who was a teacher in the truest sense of the word. All those qualities that we expect in our school teachers or university teachers were present in this man. He had knowledge, he had a commitment, he had precision, and he had discipline in his work," he noted.

"Thank God, his martyrdom also had blessings for the country. He himself reached high positions and his works gained a place in the hearts of the society as a result of this martyrdom, and I recommend that his writings and prepared lectures should be read, especially by teachers," Ayatollah Khamenei said.

Calling the community of teachers "unknown soldiers of the Islamic system, Islam and Muslims," he said teachers who are working quietly around the country in the farthest parts of the country, are busy fighting. "They are working with difficulties, with many problems. In fact, this society of teachers is educating the children of the nation and preparing them for a bright future."

The Leader went on to stress the importance of strengthening public schools, saying: "It should not be the case in the country that when the public school is referred to is the first thing that comes to mind, the weakness of the school."

"When we pay little attention to public school, it means that if someone does not have enough money to be able to enroll in a school that charges tuition, he is forced to give in to weakness; It means that someone who does not have a financial foundation should not have a scientific foundation either/ this is pure injustice and is not acceptable in any way," he added.
